If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school.

You will need to pre-enrol on SchoolZone to tell us the school you’d like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment, which opens between March and April each year.

If you have questions about registering for school, contact the school office at homesteader@epsb.ca or call 780-478-1139.

Once you have submitted your completed student registration form and supporting documents, we will review all of the documents. This does not mean your child has been enrolled at the school—we will contact you to let you know once your child is enrolled.

We will contact you if we need clarification about any of the documents you submit.

Thank you for considering Homesteader Elementary School!

Our Philosophy & About our School

    Our Vision:

Creating a positive school culture through opportunities for success, supportive relationships, and high expectations.

    Our Mission:

As a team, we build relationships with our students and community to foster a safe, supportive and creative learning environment that ensures each child successfully reaches their social, emotional, and intellectual potential as lifelong learners.

We understand the importance of providing our students with an environment of trust, co-operation, and respect. We recognize that each child is unique and special with their own potential for growth and success. At Homesteader we celebrate our cultural diversity and promote a sense of community in all classrooms. Students are engaged in their learning through the use of technology, hands-on activities, and co-operative learning activities. Homesteader staff members are committed to continuous professional improvement and model life-long learning. We value our relationships with our school community and recognize the importance of open communication among parents, students, and staff.

Homesteader School is located in the south Clareview area. The community contains a mixture of single-family homes and high-density housing. We are an optimal enrolment school, offering programming for our community students but we welcome students from other communities into our Opportunity program.

We are an Apple school that promotes healthy eating, fitness, and mental health.  We have an active School Council which has been incredibly supportive of the many initiatives happening at Homesteader.

Welcome to Homesteader!

At Homesteader School, one of our greatest gifts is our diverse student population. Our students represent more than 30 cultural and language backgrounds. We celebrate our students’ unique experiences and offer supports in our classrooms. Our daily work is grounded in the important literacy skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as numeracy understanding. We offer various forms of literacy and numeracy intervention for students who require additional support.  We also work hard at creating a safe school where everyone feels like they belong and have the opportunity to learn at their best.

We are a proud APPLE school where we promote and practice healthy habits around nutrition, physical activity and mental health. Each month, our school learns about different health concepts and participates in fun activities to reinforce healthy habits! Homesteader and e4c offer morning meals and fruit bowls daily. Our school is gratefully partnered with many community organizations who support our students in all areas of health and learning!

At Homesteader School, we value our team work with our families and community and celebrate the many experiences, interests, and skills that our students bring to our classrooms. Let’s work together to help our students achieve and be the best that they can be!

Stay kind!
