Welcome to Homesteader!
One of our greatest gifts at Homesteader School is our diverse school community. Our students and families represent 20 different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Our daily work is grounded in cultivating the important literacy skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as vital numeracy understanding. We offer various forms of intervention for students who require additional support. We also work hard at creating a welcoming and safe school environment where everyone feels like they belong and are provided with optimal learning conditions to achieve their goals.
Homesteader is a proud APPLE school where we promote and practice healthy habits around nutrition, physical activity and mental health. We offer daily morning meals and fruit bowls through our partnership with e4c’s School Nutrition Program. Our school is partnered with community organizations (Free Play, e4c ArtStart, Abbotsfield Youth Project) who also support our students’ health and wellness through various programs and initiatives.
At Homesteader School, we strongly value teamwork with our families and community and celebrate the many experiences, interests, and skills that our students bring to our classrooms. Let’s work together to help our students achieve and reach their full potential.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at the school office and we will be happy to help.

Hello Homesteader School Community,
I am honoured and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Homesteader School. It is a privilege to join such a vibrant school community.
I am passionate about fostering a sense of belonging, supporting staff development and working alongside families to ensure every child feels valued and supported. I look forward to meeting you and building relationships that prioritize students, learning, partnerships and kindness.
As a school community, we are all excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to working together with you. If you ever need to speak with me or a member of our staff, do not hesitate to contact the school and we can make arrangements to meet.
Here’s to a wonderful school year ahead!

Please Note:
For the 2025 - 2026 school year, Homesteader School is full in planned classes in Full day Kindergarten and Grades 4, 5 and 6 in the regular program. A Kindergarten student who is a resident and lives in the school's attendance area may still register. We will now only accept resident students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.
If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.
